The HIBS - the forward-looking university

As a result of the mass expansion of higher education, not 5 percent but 40 percent of a high school graduating class study in Germany today.

No matter how one judges this development as such: These many students need and are looking for correspondingly more different study profiles. The traditional types of universities are no longer sufficient “to meet the growing diversity of individual and societal expectations of academic institutions,” as the German Council of Science and Humanities worded it. Alternative forms mentioned by the German Council of Science and Humanities include job-relatedprofessional schools and distance learning programs.

The Hayek International Business School(HIBS) therefore sees itself both as a better alternative to the conventional university sector (with its time-consuming, theory-overloaded courses) and to the conventional business schools (with their one-sided focus on pure “mainstream economics”).
